Lesson 6 Percy Buttons

I have just moved to a house in Bridge Street. Yesterday a beggar knocked at my door. He asked me for a meal and a glass of beer.

In return for this, the beggar stood on his head and sang songs. I gave him a meal. He ate the food and drank the beer. Then he put a piece of cheese in his pocket and went away.

Later a neighbour told me about him. Everybody knows him. His name is Percy Buttons. He calls at every house in the street once a month and always asks for a meal and a glass of beer.

1.the 特指明确的对象

作为回报，那乞丐倒立着唱了几首歌。

He ate the food and drank the beer.

3.定冠词the还可和一些表示世上独一无二的东西的名词一道用

The moon has risen.

月亮升起来了。

注意：元音开头的单词前，泛指不用a，而要用an。

不管是名词单数还是复数，特指都用定冠词the。独一无二的事物前也要加the
